Leading bhive environmental is our partner Rob Gell AM. Rob is a coastal geomorphologist by training; he began his career as an academic teaching Environmental Science and Physical Geography at Melbourne State College and Melbourne University, then for more than thirty years presented television weather in parallel with his work as an environmental consultant.

Rob is an Adjunct Associate Professor, Collaborative Research Network, Federation University Australia, Chairman of Wildlife Victoria and a member of the Victorian Coastal Council.

He was a director of Greening Australia for thirteen years, seven years as Victorian President and three years as national President concluding in 2011 and Chairman of the UNESCO Western Port Biosphere for a decade until 2014. Rob is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and an Inaugural Fellow of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand. He is also a published author and a photographer.

Rob Gell is a uniquely qualified individual who has the respect of government, business, environmental groups and the community for his approach to ecologically sustainable development.

On Australia Day 2014 Rob was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his service to conservation, to the protection of coastal and marine environments, and to the community.

Bhive Group is proud to be carbon neutral through carbon credits generated by the April Salumei REDD Project for avoiding the deforestation and degradation. These carbon offsets have been audited against the Verified Carbon Standard to ensure they comply with possibly the most rigorous voluntary standard available.

The April Salumei REDD Project has also been validated to the Climate Community and Biodiversity Standards to demonstrate community involvement and benefits from this implementation of the project.

solar schools program

bhive environmental has partnered with electricity retailer, Powershop, to launch the Solar Schools Program in Cardinia Shire with the support of Cardinia Shire Council and is now open to schools throughout Victoria. It provides the opportunity to have a photovoltaic solar array installed at no cost to the school.

Participating schools encourage members of their community to switch their electricity account to Powershop, For each person that switches their electricity provider to Powershop, Powershop makes a financial contribution towards the cost of installing a solar panel system. When enough people have switched their provider, the school then owns a renewable energy generating asset.
